Heh. I was going to say, that's quite a list!

Decadent Desserts

You know, it's a funny thing: I don't really do movies or TV. I don't think I would be able to come up with a top 5 for animated ones. (The ones I could think of were Miyazaki films: Spirited Away, Ponyo.)

Saiyuki 58 Moments

In all of these, I can quote the dialog, but it's the facial expressions and body language that really make the scenes.

  • Near the end of the Burial Arc:
Hakkai: You make a terrible villain.
    Gojyo: .... Shut up.
  • The Bridge Scene in Reload
  • The end of the Seitan Taisei fight in "Even a Worm," as Gojyo revives Hakkai:
Hakkai: Why are you making that face?
Gojyo: Shut up. Just quit talkin'.
  • The one that just happened in Blast, where Gojyo's getting too hot after the fight and wants to take off his jacket, and Hakkai stops him:
    Gojyo: Why?
Hakkai: Because that would be too sexy.
  • In "Be There," the moment that started the whole thing, from my point of view: when Hakkai has just confessed that the dear lover he lost was his older sister –
Hakkai: Do you think the less of me?
Gojyo: Nah. Some people ... go for that, I guess.

You mean books, right? It's hard for me to slice it that way, because the whole category of YA didn't exist when I was the age that's now targeted as that. But these are books that nowadays would be categorized as YA, although they might have been children's or adults when they were released:

Yes, books :) Thank you for the list and info about them.
From your list, I know about Fire and Hemlock, add others to my to-be-read list.

With obvious ulterior motives, I'll ask for:

your five favorite translated (into English) and completed manga series

I suppose citing SDK wouldn't help, right? ;-)

OK, here are five series, each very different from each other, which I enjoyed. But I doubt they are anything that you have not heard of before:

I'll also throw in one manhwa series, Shaman Warrior by Park Joong-Ki, which was really good until it sort of jumped the shark at its ending.

Actually, both Shaman Warrior and Mushishi were sort of new to me - I'd never heard of the first one, and never picked up the second one, although I'd heard of it. (For some reason, I thought it was more of an action/adventure with swords type of manga.)

... Wikipedia sort of makes it sound like Natsume Yuujinchou only with less continuity?

(Hikaru no Go! I knew I had some volumes somewhere, but not that the series was finished by now, meaning I'd be able to get the remaining ones and stop worrying about this series being endless á la Bleach.)

After Rachel's story I'm tempted to ask you your five favorite ducks but I'm not sure you have that much of a duck preference...

Favorite place to eat, anywhere.
