20th Century Boys and Bamboo Blade are about to end, and xxxHolic, Ouran High School Host Club, and Hikaru no Go all finished in the last year or so. Black Lagoon is still on hiatus, as is Wild Adapter (although the latest news says that will resume next year ... no English publisher in sight, though).

I'm trying to get moving on Kekkaishi again. I enjoy it while I'm actually reading it, but somehow it doesn't inspire me to much anticipation.

And other than that, I'm not feeling too excited about manga at the moment. (I don't dare get too excited about Saiyuki ... stay healthy, sensei!) But I don't have anything to substitute for it. It is a sad puzzlement.

Would I like DURARARA!!, anyone? Any other recs?

This entry is also posted at Dreamwidth. Comment at either location, as you prefer.

I thought Pandora Hearts is interesting - a darker retell of Alice in Wonderland -released by Yen, volume 11 just came out. 18 volumes still going on in Japan.
How about A Bride's story by Mori the author of Emma?
I'm not sure if you are interested in manhwa/shojo - Seven seas release a detective story the main character is an mystery author and she solves cases, too. It's set in Victorian England. There is preview on Seven seas website, up until chapter 3. It's call Lizzie Newton: Victorian Mysteries

Almost everything I'd most like to rec to you either is out of print, anime rather than manga, or isn't available in licensed English print translations yet, phooey! The only new-ish manga I'd really like to rec that's both licensed and still in print is Maiden Rose, and even that's kind of iffy because there are only two English volumes out and it looks suspiciously like the publisher is doing another Crimson Spell-style "drop the complicated plotty BL series so you can bring out more smutty PWP instead" - there are four volumes out in Japan so far but only two of those are available in English, and the last one came out two years ago. Oh, and Animate has been bringing out a little more of Yoneda Kou's work in English...but only as ebooks, not hardcopy versions, and only in Kindle format to boot. :(

I haven't seen or read Durarara! yet myself, but it's been recced a lot and sounds quite interesting. The original light novel series is by the same author as Baccano!, which IIRC Megan was pretty fond of? I haven't gotten around to that one yet either but from all the writeups I've come across it sounds like it hits a lot of similar notes.
