Four Questions Meme!

Of course, to me, the Four Questions start with Ma nishtana ha-lailah hazeh ... . However, the meme has something a little more personal in mind! It goes like this:

  • Leave me a comment saying "Resistance is Futile."
  • I'll respond by asking you four questions so I can satisfy my curiosity
  • Update your journal with the answers to the questions.
  • Include this explanation in the post and offer to ask other people questions

lady_ganesh asked me:

  1. Who's your favorite character to write?

Has to be Gojyo from Saiyuki! I think he lets the inner me come out and play.
  2. What's your favorite offline hobby?

The Young Lady heard me ask this outloud and said it has to be reading. I'll add photography - although that goes online once I post the pix to Flickr.
  3. Do you go to conventions? (I can't remember.) Is there one you want to go to?

I do like to go to cons sometimes. I used to run tournaments at gaming cons. Now I hang out and take pictures of people in costumes. I've gone to Katsucon the last couple of years and hope to do so again in 2010.
  4. What's your favorite fannish possession?

After the actual books and manga themselves, it has to be my big print of this picture (pefectly worksafe; click on the image once you get there so you can see the whole thing properly). telophase drew/painted this for me! I won her in a charity auction, and asked for something with four mysterious shop keepers from manga/manhwa. We have this framed and hanging in the dining room.

  2. What's the best book you read this year? Is it something you'd recommend I read?
  3. A philanthropist has given you an all-expenses-paid trip for one week, anywhere in the world (with a companion or two, if you prefer): where do you go, and why?
  4. If sleeping with a book under your pillow would give you apropos dreams, what book would you be putting under your pillow tonight?

  1. I see we have a couple of non-Minekura fandoms in common - Bleach, xxxHolic, Cowboy Bebop, Ouran High School Host Club. So give me a quick idea for a cracky Saiyuki Gaiden crossover involving one of them!
  2. Someone's going to give you one piece of jewelry - no strings attached! What do you ask for?
  3. You're going to be forced to eat a liquid diet for 4 weeks ... what do you choose for your last meal beforehand?
  4. So what's the deal with the fish phobia? (Only if it's not too painful to discuss ... )

All righty, resistance is futile. (And that picture Telophase did is amazing and beautiful.)

  2. What aspect of marine biology is the most interesting to you?
  3. What was your favorite book when you were 10 to 12 years old? (And if you have re-read it as an adult, how did it stand up?)

  1. If you could "shadow" a celebrity (any type: author, actress, singer, politician ...) for a week, being that person's assistant and seeing what they really did, whom would you pick?
  2. Give me an idea for an SDK/Terry Pratchett crossover: who goes to which world, and whom do they meet?
  3. You yourself are transported to another world and become something non-human! Where do you go, and what do you become?
  4. It's 10 years from now, and you're about to receive an award for your work ... the awards ceremony is televised, too! What award are you receiving, and what do you wear to receive it?

  1. rachelmanija once wrote an entry on the subject of "cool bits" in writing, which she defined as "elements and images which [you find] cool or sexy or touching" in a story. The examples that she gave included: men in glasses, psychic kids, trenchcoats, black helicopters, and flower imagery, among others. What are five of your cool bits?
  2. All of us have "comfort reads" - books we read when we're feeling down and want to escape from the world. What are a couple or three of yours?
  3. You're out for a night on the town in the city of your choice with the companion of your choice! What will you folks do, and what will you be wearing while you do it?
  4. What's your favorite section (arc, chapter, scene) of Saiyuki published thus far, and why?

I still love that picture so much! It was so awesome to see telophase putting it together, but owning the final product has to be best of all.
