Ah, couldn't remember if I'd included that one or not! I remember what I used where when I'm writing or constructing a fanmix, but just throwing together a music sampler doesn't tend to involve the sort of repeat listening that sticks in my brain.

It's part of the transitional scene between the two stories, when Hakkai's been getting twitchy with post-coital second thoughts and Gojyo's been trying to jolly him out of it -- early on, before the conversation flares up again and strays into sore spots.

Funnily enough, I was playing a lot of quieter bits from Tarkan's English-language album for the first half, but didn't wind up with the strong story-associations there -- I think maybe because I'd already played that so much when I was doing the huge fanmix that damn near everything on that album was already fixed in my mind as sort of generically Gojyo songs. The Oceania disc OTOH I'd only just managed to track down shortly before writing the second half, so it was all still very fresh and new -- I'd actually glommed onto "Haere Ra" for the sound even before I'd realized how apt the lyrics were. (I can recognize a handful of Maori words by their similarity to their Hawaiian cognates, but not nearly enough to make sense of it just from listening.)

Ah, OK, I found the place in the story! So, do I have to beg for the Haere Ra lyrics?   ;-)

They're posted in both English and Maori on that YouTube link I included earlier. ;)

(The location may not be obvious, if you aren't a total YT junkie like me -- you need to click the little "more info" link in the little video description pane on the top right.)
