A Date with My Mr.

Brunch and a matinee at the Kennedy Center:

montage of brunch: table with view of dessert buffet beyond, plate of salad with seafood, plate of desserts - creme brulee cup, chocolate truffle, chocolate dipper strawberry, small square of chocolate cake

montage of show: Kennedy Center Opera House foyer, poster for the show Beautiful: the Carole King Musical, opening set of the show, with a grand piano and colorful lighting

The show, "Beautiful: The Carole King Musical," was slight and slick, but enjoyable. The framing of the famous songs with the show's scenes was fun, and toward the end, when King is starting out on her solo career, actually touching. "It's Too Late, " which shows up just after she's decided she has to leave her husband and frequent collaborator (in the 1960s) Gerry Goffin, made me cry.
