More "TJ and Amal" Nattering

I'll cut for spoilers 'cause I know at least one reader who likes to save 'em up and read 'em in a batch.

So TJ tells his honey that he never uses the cocaine that he's dealing. But a few weeks back, I was wondering about how dizzy he was acting: the I dooon't caaare thing). He's claiming here that even a large coffee will get him too buzzed, but we've seen him drinking coffee.

I'm not sure I believe him that he never uses coke. What do you think about this latest development?

(God, my heart hurts so much for them, especially Amal, because that's how I'd be reacting ... and her drawing is really, really good lately, especially their expressions. Especially especially TJ's face in today's final frame.)

This entry is also posted at Dreamwidth. Comment at either location, as you prefer.

I'm not by any means an expert on drugs, but what I can find about the effects of cocaine doesn't seem to match with TJ's behavior in that strip, which seemed like classic stoner to me--mellow and dizzy suggests pot to me; cocaine is a stimulant that can also make people jittery and paranoid.

Hmmm, I suppose you're right. (I don't know much about drugs either - people getting stoned on hash brownies is about all I ever encountered that I knew about, although I'm sure other things were happening back in high school and college ... it was the 1970s ... .)

They are coming from such different reference points on this. I have a really bad feeling about it. The pacing - this right after that fight, the encounter with the cop, and how warm and fuzzy everything was getting ... E.K. is good, very good. And she's played straight with us ... so much of what T.J. doing makes sense now.

This. He seems too ditzy for coke.

You're right. I'm sure. It's my ignorance showing ... .

I think it's a testament to how well EK puts the story together - you're basically going through Amal's thought process exactly!

I need to ask her whether it would be OK to make some icons. But I am so worried about them right now - it could all end in tears.

She seems pretty chill with fandom so I bet she'd like icons.

It's a stressful moment!

Aha:

Can I make icons/wallpapers/sig images from your art?

Sure, have at! Just please use your own webspace (or a service like Photobucket) for hosting them, and please give credit or a link back to this site if you can.

I'm generally fine with folks using my drawings for stuff as long as they're not being sold or plagiarized.
