It's Started

I just forced myself off Facebook ... otherwise I would sit and stare at it, waiting for people to post stuff about the storm.

We have done all the wash, so that we won't be stuck with hampers full of dirty clothes when the power goes out.

My bunny sitter just gave me a teeny battery-powered fan, and I picked up another one at the hardware store when I went on a last-minute grocery run.

The power just flickered, dammit. It's only just been raining for a few hours - no need to be so melodramatic! (Especially because I was about to do some cooking before things get any worse.)

Thanks! >crosses fingers<

So far so good, although they're still calling for all kinds of crud - wind gusts up to 60 mph, for example.

Well, so far so good ... I did hear a transformer blow somewhere in the neighborhood, but we get that during summer thunderstorms too. Thanks for the good wishes!

*hugs* How is Brownie holding up by herself?

Miss B is VERY unhappy about getting rained on every time we go for walkies, poor baby. ;)

Poor B baby - her fur is so fine and thin!

Brown seems to be OK, although she is very desperate for attention whenever we go in there. She's eating well and purring when I rub her face.

Sometimes I wonder if she'd be a little happier about going out in the rain if I put her in a raincoat, but I suspect between RAIN ON HER FACE and WET PAWS it wouldn't be quite enough to counteract the "I'm MELLLLLLLTING! MAKE IT STOP!" Pitiful Pibbleface. She doesn't mind wearing sweaters so I'm sure a raincoat would be fine, too, but puppy-galoshes would probably be pushing my luck; she's less tolerant of messing with her feet.

And awww, poor Brownie-chan! *sends her virtual scritches*

I just got back from my cousin's engagement party. It's actually not too bad out there right now. Kind of like a bad thunderstorm, tbh. I would still prepare for a possible power outage overnight though.

Yeah, I certainly wouldn't be shocked by an outage. It's the A/C that I'd feel the worst. I am not tolerating hot temperatures very well lately at all, and dead air and humidity just make it worse. If the power went out while the wind and rain were still going on, we wouldn't be able to open the windows. At least I have the little battery-powered fans and extra batteries.

Ahh, kate_nepveu made these Totoro icons - she is a woman of many talents!

So far so good. Every once in a while I'll hear the rain hissing and the wind roaring - that's when one of the "bands" of the storm passes through our area. It's a really huge storm in terms of how far it's stretching along the coast.

Take care! We'll see each other on the flipside, I suspect.

From what I'm seeing on the NWS radar, you should be getting it now too. This is a huge storm in terms of area!

No rain yet, but it'll be soon. Hubby's supposed to be packing up stuff in the backyard, and if he has to do it in the rain it is not my problem.
