... and the power keeps flickering.

Aww, you're getting the snow. I wanted a real snow, but all we got was sleet and then wet snow that melted as soon as it hit the ground.

The power seems to have stabilized. >crossed fingers<

It's very, very wet, sticky snow. There's a chain link fence along the Metro line, separating it from the Chessie freight line (OK, CSX, but it'll always be Chessie to me ...), and the interstices were filling up with snow! The temperature is still above freezing too. Karl is wondering whether to shovel now, while he's almost ready to go to bed, or in the morning, when he'll be refreshed but the layer of snow along the ground will probably have turned to ice.

(And me and my bronchitis are not going to shovel snow, although I normally would help.)

Shall keep fingers crossed for you too. Snow can be cozy when you don't have to go out in it.

snowy day

The prayers seem to have worked: we dodged the bullet on the power issue.

:-)

I'd probably shovel now. This is definitely a system for ice.

I sympathize over the bronchitis. I get it pretty consistently after a bad cold.

snow & Miss B

There's sill plenty on the ground here. How about by you? How is Bikkit doing?

Re: snow & Miss B
There's still a couple inches of icy half-melted-and-refrozen stuff on all the grassy bits (and thicker in a few spots where plows pushed it up into big snowbanks), but the sidewalks and parking lots around here are mostly all clear. She isn't crazy about cold, of course, but dry snow or ice really doesn't bother her any more than cold clear ground; it's being *wet* that she hates. B-A-T-H FALLING FROM THE SKY, OH NOES! That it's a freezing-cold slushy B-A-T-H only makes it marginally worse; she wants to turn around and head right back indoors as soon as she sees the rain or slush pouring down, even before she feels it. ;)

(Calendars *just* arrived a few minutes ago, BTW!)

Re commutes: I just found out that my poor sister Amy was on the road for close to 5 hours: 3 to get to her kids' after-school program and then more than an hour and a half to get from there to home. Thank goodness the program had the common sense to feed the kids some semi-real food (chicken nuggets) before she got there.

Hope it'll stop snowing before it gets too bad for the power grid and everything to handle it! I guess snow is only nice when there isn't too much of it...

We dodged the bullet on the power issue. My colleague Abbie just got her power back last night!
