Baaa ... Golden Compass Meme

Your result for The Golden Compass Daemon Test...

Open Sensitive Soul

You are an open, emotional person and very sensitive to the things going on around you. You are empathetic and make an excellent listener, but you also like to share your thoughts, feelings, and opinions with the world. You are not particularly extroverted, preferring time at home with a group of friends than a busy and stressful night out among strangers and acquaintances.

You wear your heart on your sleeve, and probably become upset when someone tries to give you constructive criticism. Your loved ones tend to accidentally hurt your feelings with their insensitive, off-hand remarks, and then accuse you of being too sensitive.

You are open and honest, and you do not do well at hiding your feelings, even when you try. You prefer to get things out in the open and resolve them, rather than leaving them to fester. Other people might sometimes frustrate you by hiding their feelings, shrugging and saying "oh well" instead of standing up for themselves, like you try to do.

Your daemon's form would represent highly sensitive nature, your frank honesty, and your devotion to friends and family. He or she would stick close to you and whisper comfort and advice in your ear most of the time. When you or your loved ones needed defending, however, he or she would become as openly vocal as you, and help you in your protestations.

Suggested forms: Songbird, Dove, Swan, Domestic cat, Border Collie.

The first time I took it, I got a cute wittle bunny wabbit. I don't see how I got either that or this when I specified that I would wanted to be a strong animal that could protect someone ... .

Maybe you are like that rabbit in Monty Python And the Holy Grail... ;)

Hey, have you ever seen a mockingbird defending its nest? Those little buggers are VICIOUS and utterly fearless! ;)

It may not be the sort of animal you wanted, but the description really does sound like you, dear -- would it help if instead of the little tweety bird you went with one of the other options?

A border collie would be the most awesomely protective faithful guardian and loyal friend any kid could ask for, after all...

(I got the quiet antisocial gecko again.)

Oh yes, it does sound like me! I didn't see the collie until after I'd posted. And yes, a mockingbird is fierce, but not much help against a larger, determined foe.

Well, I could live with a dog daemon. The series noted that many people in service have dog daemons, and that would go with my public servant fixation ... .

Hey, at least even the little thrush could peck someone's eyes out if it tried! Nobody's gonna be terribly threatened by this little fellow, unless they're just phobic:

Although I do get "lizard" as an option (do they not realize geckos are lizards, bwuh?), so perhaps I could be a big spiky iguana with a mean whippy tail instead...

Or, you could be a komodo dragon. ;) Those are lizards, after all.

True! But I'd rather be an ig, even if they're not as big -- I had a marvelous pet iguana years some years ago so they're rather dear to me. And if they don't like you, those tails can really raise a nasty welt! ;)

Heck, they can even bite you pretty badly if they want, too. I had a green iguana when I was younger, and although she never bit me, she bit my grandmother's hand pretty badly. Even though she was pretty small at that point, she left a deep, bloody wound. Ouch!

Oh yeah, my boy was very tame with me and never deliberately tried to bite, but he once sliced a nice deep gash in the ball of my thumb by accident when I was hand-feeding him some treats. Those teeth may not look big and scary, but they're designed for slicing up tough vegetation and are sharp as razors.

(And my arms are still criss-crossed up and down with thin scars from all the times he used me as a climbing tree. When folks tell you not to let cute little baby iglets get in the habit of climbing on your head, they aren't joking! Running to climb up on their favorite human for security when they're only about six inches long is adorable -- when they're four or five feet long and packed full of solid muscle, that behavior's not quite so cute...at least not if you're the designated climbing tree. I suspect there were several years where people must have wondered if I was a cutter, all thanks to those sharp little claws...)

Like smillaraaq, I also got the "Quiet Loner Soul." It's a pretty apt description for me, too.
