This here, I mean.

(OK, it's for a crossover RPG, I guess. Still, my brain hurts.)

(I found it while I was trying to get a more solid picture in my mind after reading lady_ganesh's recent opus. Bear in mind that I have never seen Weiß Kreuz ... but I have actually read Gravitation.)

I feel there is no possible explanation for that chart. *needs to lie down a bit*

Just from what I know about Gravi, and how much serious Saiyuki fans love their Weiß Kreuz, it looked wrong wrong wrong!

*head explodes*

... Shuichi and Aya as lovers? Well, let's be fair - a genius author might pull it off; Shuichi likes 'em a bit Angsty and emotionally challenged after all, but er.

*sneaks another look*

Quite an er complex chart. I can see why some of the connections were made (based on either personality or nationality or looks).

In all fairness, I should not make fun of the young person (I am willing to bet the creator is under 20). I used to share a similar fondness for meshing together the family trees of my favorite characters. But I stopped doing it before I was worldly enough to have thought of making a connection like "lovers," especially between two guys!

WTF! My brain bleeds at the craziness. If you want good Weiss Kreuz fic that doesn't require you to have actually seen the series check out Shadows and Light by 2metaldog

Thanks for the rec! It stands to reason that there'd be some good stuff out there - some of my favorite Saiyuki fic authors love their Weiss Kreuz.

Given that Weiss Kreuz is the brainchild of a hardcore fanboy voice actor who likes to write what amounts to yaoi fic starring himself and his friends, this crossover really isn't all that unlikely...

I just can't see anyone from Gravi except maybe Eiri Yuki getting together with anyone about whom sincere, angsty fic could be written ... .

I should not make fun of what's probably a very young person ... fish in a barrel, as it were. But the endless connections! Everywhere! OMG!

Well...that hurt. Yeah, I suppose some of those things could happen, but it's nine shades of DNW.

*pops advil*

I thought it looked pretty bad ... I'm glad to see my instincts were correct!

Suiichi's player at CFUD used to joke about how he and Omi were sekret twins, but...THAT'S NOT WHAT SHE MEANT.

(I always thought it was Omi/Hisoka/Suiichi as sekret triplets.)

I have to say that the only part of Gravi that I found affecting was also the part that I found most shamelessly manipulative: when Shuiichi sacrificed his, um, charms to save Eiri's reputation, and then Hiroshi fixed everything up for him. But then, Hiroshi was probably the only character in there I really liked.

I had such a crush on Hiro. (I never made it through the manga.)
Jun. 27th, 2009 03:29 am (UTC)

I made this a while ago:

There are some more Gravi icons here, mostly featuring a PO-ed Eiri Yuki.

Jun. 27th, 2009 03:31 am (UTC)
I had a really great Hiro icon ages ago that, I believe, I traded out for this one of Kanda being hot. So many men, so little time.
Jun. 27th, 2009 03:37 am (UTC)

LOL! The funny thing is, I don't tend to think of any of these characters as hot until I can get into the headspace of another character that would find that person hot. Me-cho isn't that interested in Hakkai, for example, but me-Gojyo is!

I started D. Gray-Man, but got stuck fairly quickly. During the upcoming Saiyuki drought, with SDK over and done, I may have to try re-starting that and FMA.

Jun. 27th, 2009 03:40 am (UTC)
I'm on V. 17 of FMA now and YES READ THAT. Holy heck is it good. I have to actually stop and read it slowly so I won't miss things and not because it's confusing, because it's PACKED. I was just thinking about how much better it is then Bleach at adding other characters without turning things into 'hey, wait, who is that again?'
Jun. 27th, 2009 08:02 am (UTC)
I haven't read the FMA manga yet, but I've seen the anime, and even just based on that I'd second the FMA rec. While I know there are some very very popular fanon slash pairings there, they don't really speak to me and I suspect you wouldn't see the appeal either (underage incest squick for one, inappropriate age/power difference for another). There's enough good stuff going on in canon that I don't think you'd miss any lack of slashy good times, though; particularly a great brotherly relationship between the two leads, a really nice variety of non-stereotypical female characters in a wide age range, and some interestingly thoughtful stuff about loss and obsession and the costs of power.
Jun. 27th, 2009 07:49 am (UTC)
Clearly, a sign of your impeccable good taste! ;)

(I also loved Hiro best, and spent most of the series wishing Eiri and and Shuichi would just go off and get a room already, somewhere off-stage, so we could see more of Hiro being all-around decent and nice and cute and funny and loyal and awesome. The hair didn't hurt, of course!)
Jun. 28th, 2009 02:55 am (UTC)
Well, yes.

Hee! I liked the ridiculous angst. Sometimes I just want shameless stupid romance.
Jun. 28th, 2009 09:22 am (UTC)
The angst didn't click as much for me, but I managed to read and enjoy the whole thing purely for the sheer over-the-top crackiness; once you give up on expecting to take it seriously, Gravi becomes much more enjoyable, IMO. And if you gave up partway through the series you missed some primo insanity... XD

(But there's still just nowhere NEAR enough Hiro for my tastes, harrumph. Even when he finally gets a love interest of his own they barely get any time together in the storyline.)
Jun. 28th, 2009 12:50 pm (UTC)
I actually never made it through the manga, because Shuiichi was much sweeter and more normal and it make Yuki's asshole behavior read so much more abusive to me I wasn't enjoying myself. The anime seemed more balance. Plus, a slim 13 episodes. And music.
